Term One Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we come to the end of a successful term one, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the key events and developments at Andrew Rabie High School.
Staff News:
We bid farewell to Mrs Chanel Fava, who has taken up a position at another school. We thank her for her loyal service to Andrew Rabie and wish her all the best in her new role. We welcome Mr. James, who has joined us in place of Mrs. Fava. Additionally, we would like to extend our congratulations to Ms Louise Raubenheimer, who is getting married on Saturday, 23 March. We wish her a lifetime of happiness.
Remembering Lluwellyn Solomons
During term 1, we tragically lost one of our Grade 12 learners, Llewelyn Solomons. While his passing has left a deep void in our hearts, we choose to remember Lluwellyn for the joy and kindness he brought to our school community. His presence will be greatly missed, and our thoughts are with his family and friends as they navigate this difficult time. Lluwellyn's memory will forever remain in our hearts.
School Governing Body:
We wish to thank the members who served on the SGB during the previous three-year term for their dedication and commitment. We also welcome the newly elected members and thank them for their willingness to serve. We wish them well in their roles.
Discipline:
We commend all learners who have complied with the general school rules. Please note that girls are allowed to wear grey school trousers from the 1st of May for the rest of term two and three. No deviation from the uniform will be tolerated. Learners are required to have a permission slip on days when they cannot comply with the school dress code.
Winter Uniform:
Please note that learners are expected to wear winter uniform as from the start of term 2.

Sport and Extra-Mural Activities:
Thank you to all parents and learners for their participation in sports and other extra-mural activities. We encourage more learners to participate and reap the benefits of a well-rounded education.
Athletics:
Nineteen athletes represented Andrew Rabie High School at the Nelson Mandela Metro Athletics on the 23rd and 24th of February. These athletes demonstrated great resilience and determination, pushing themselves to meet the qualification standards. We are extremely proud of all the athletes who participated this season. Rabie walked away with 4 x 3rd places, 3 x 2nd places, and 2 x 1st places.
Sherwin Leander deserves special recognition for dominating the discus scene at the Eastern Cape Provincial Athletics Championship on the 8th of March 2024. He secured 1st place in the boys u/14 category with a remarkable throw of 31,18m.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Linelle Blignaut as she represents Eastern Province in the SASAPD Toyota National Championship for disabled people. Linelle will be participating in the under 20 shot put, 400m, and 800m events from the 21st to the 26th of March. We are incredibly proud of Linelle's achievements and wish her the best of luck in the competition. Her dedication and perseverance are an inspiration to us all.
Congratulations to all our athletes for their outstanding performances and for representing our school with such pride and sportsmanship.
Rabie Run:
We would like to thank everyone for their participation and contribution to the success of the Rabie Run. While we are disappointed by the low number of parents and learners who participated, the event was still a huge success. We look forward to next year's race and hope for greater involvement from the school community.
BTD Rabie Ratel festival:
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone who contributed to making the BTD Rabie Ratel festival one of the biggest school festivals in the Nelson Mandela District. With more than 6000 people in attendance, it was a true celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie. We thank all participating schools and congratulate all the learners who took part, whether on the playing field or in a supportive role. Your dedication and sportsmanship were truly commendable.
ATKV Rabie Ratels:
We would like to express our gratitude to the ATKV Rabie Ratels for their continued passion and creativity in making school life fun and ensuring that everyone feels special. One of their notable achievements was organizing a wonderful Fun-filled Boeresports day, from which they donated 20% of the profits to the Luister FM Easter egg project. We would also like to thank Mrs Kruger and Aiden van Buuren for proudly representing us on the Luister FM Groot Brekvis radio show to promote their project.
BTD Partnership:
At the end of 2023, Andrew Rabie High School established a fruitful partnership with Port Elizabeth based company, Bay Tool and Die Makers, which has since resulted in numerous financial and other contributions to the school. One of the highlights of this partnership was the sponsorship of two brand new, state-of-the-art, solar-powered computer labs. These labs were officially opened on 19 March 2023 and have greatly enhanced the school's technological capabilities. In addition to this, BTD has committed to supporting various other ventures of the school, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to our institution. BTD has shown unwavering support by actively participating in events such as the Rabie Run and becoming the title sponsor of our annual sports festival, now known as the BTD Rabie Ratel festival. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to BTD for their generous contributions and look forward to further strengthening our partnership in the future.
